popchords is made by Ovie. The app has no accounts or ads. We collect a small set of gameplay statistics to understand what works and where players get stuck. We don’t track you across other apps or websites.

Your game stays on your device

Your progress, discovered chords, preferences, and records of review or support invitations are stored locally. Reset progress clears game progress and the Journal. It does not reset those invitation records. Deleting the app removes its local data; device backups are managed by Apple.

Gameplay statistics

We use OpenPanel on our own server to count app opens, tutorial progress, run starts and outcomes, new chord discoveries, and Journal visits. Events can include the musical key, number of moves and chords formed, active play time, app version, and device platform.

A randomly generated installation ID lets us see whether players return. It is not your name, email address, or advertising ID. Events are linked to that ID, so they are not fully anonymous. Our server receives your IP address and device information when events arrive; OpenPanel can use these to estimate a general location and device type. We don’t request GPS location, record your screen, or record audio.

When you are offline, events may wait on your device and be sent when you reconnect. Resetting game progress does not delete statistics already sent or reset the installation ID.

Optional tips

Apple processes tips through the App Store. The app receives purchase information to finish the transaction. We don’t receive your payment card details or run a server to store your purchases. See Apple’s App Store privacy information.

This website

We don’t add analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. Our hosting provider processes connection information, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the website.

If you contact us

We use the email address and information you share to answer your message. We don’t add you to a mailing list. Please don’t send payment details or other sensitive information.
